Overview of Courses
The Centre for Online Sanskrit Studies offers online classes that enable the systematic learning of Sanskrit, highlight the spiritual significance of the Sanskrit language, enable greater understanding of Vedic chants and prayers, and provide support and guidance for the Cambridge International Sanskrit Exams.
The courses are run by a fellowship of people who have the love of Sanskrit and its practical application in deepening the understanding of an original language of many scriptures.

The courses have been designed in simple language for easy comprehension. It is based on material prepared mainly by St James School-Sanskrit Department, London.
Pre-requisites
There are no pre-requisites for enrolling for the Introductory course – just a desire and willingness to learn Sanskrita.
Eligibility
Only those residing in South Africa may join. Overseas students will be referred to the St James School-Sanskrit Department for their online Sanskrita classes.
Courses
The courses comprise of four levels as follows:
The courses are conducted online via Zoom.
There will be three terms in a year, starting in January, May and September. Each term runs for 10 weeks.
Classes are held once a week. The duration of each class will be ninety minutes with a short break in between.
Textbooks will be prescribed which will greatly enhance the learning of the language.
In order to embed the lessons homework will be given (about 1 hour per week).
